The Power of Multirater Feedback for Employee Appraisals

by Michael Beek on April 14, 2009

If you are conducting employee appraisals for your employees, then you should consider asking other people who work with the employee to give their feedback. Normally only the manager is providing the feedback regarding how well the employee is meeting the stated performance criteria. Some organizations also ask the employee to do a self-appraisal, but for reasons beyond my comprehension, they give this self-appraisal to their managers before meeting with the manager. Of course we all know that because the manager is either afraid to give their unbiased appraisal or they are just lazy and want the employee to help fill out the appraisal form.

Watch this video to learn about how involving others in the feedback process can add a whole new dimension to the employee appraisal process.
